Arthur looked to Wilbur and Byron and all three declared at once: “Fly?”

Feathertop nodded. “Well, you don’t need to make it sound so crazy and impossible.”

“Horses can’t fly!” Wilbur was the first to object.

“And forget about dogs flying,” Byron said. “It’s aerodynamically impossible.”

“And there’s no airplane nearby,” Arthur said, trying to sound reasonable. “And I don’t believe any of us can grow wings in the very near future.”

Old Slugger crawled forward and looked to Arthur and company. “In the Forbidden Zone, you don’t need wings or an airplane. You need only the desire to fly.”

“I don’t understand,” Arthur said.

“To be able to fly, you must simply wish for it,” Feathertop countered. “Wish to be able to fly to the castle, and the magic of this land will oblige you.”

Arthur beamed a huge smile. “How marvelous. A place where you can wish for something and it comes to past.”

“Such wishes have limitations,” the old turtle said. “But not when it comes to flying. Go ahead and try it.”

“I will,” Arthur said and turned on his heel and exited the hut.

“I have a bad feeling about this,” Wilbur muttered.

“And I have a fear of flying in general,” Byron said, though both animals followed Arthur out of the hut.

Arthur looked out over the castle then said aloud, “I wish to go to the castle.”

Suddenly, he was airborne. He let out a howl of laughter, as he floated upwards and then over the lake. He turned to Wilbur and Byron. “Come on, you guys. This is fun!”

Wilbur rolled his eyes. “Oh, boy. It’s not enough that I have to travel for three days without food, but now I have to fly.”

But he snorted into the wind nevertheless, “I wish to fly to the castle.”

Sure enough, Wilbur floated into the air and was on his way behind Arthur to the castle.

“Wait for me!” Byron called out then barked. “Fly me to the castle, please! I really want to go!”

Sir High Beagle floated in the air and surged after his friends.
